the mountain bluebird is one of three bluebird species native to north america, closely related to the eastern and western bluebirds. the mountain bluebird has a range that spans the western half of north america. the recognizable baby-blue bird does not have brown on the body like the other two species of bluebird. they feed mainly on insects and berries, and will visit feeders readily for mealworms.
